Three Fecking Hours!

God! i know its windy but come on, closing all the bloody mainline stations in London... Took me three hours to get home from London Bridge, three buses and a cab.

Anyway, went to a conference today, called The Media Summit. It was fantastic, really good line-up of speakers including the director general of the BBC and the creative director of Endomol (Creators of BB) he got a bit of a hard time. Learnt loads and well worth the money.

MSN Mobile Messenger

Discovered MSN Messenger recently on my mobile phone. It's great! Been talking to mates on messenger while i'm on the train without annoying everyone around me, it's very cool. The mobile phone is such a great invention, messenger, blog, photos, email, text and of course old fashion talking, how quaint...

I’m actually back in England but only just had the time to do a final holiday blog. Visited a few more towns on the last few days, Vrsar and Rovinj. Both are very peaceful and picturesque, however Rovinj won me over. Lovely character, beach and hillside old town. Ate a wonderful fish grill that the whole family shared at a restaurant in the Old Town, not sure what it was called but it was perfectly cooked. At the top of the hillside old town was a magnificent church and a walk down into the bay.

Vrsar was smaller and quieter, loads of big yachts and powerboats berthed in the harbor. Looks like a rich town. Nice enough but very quiet.

The drive back to Trieste airport was easy enough (going to Croatia we had a guide) and we didn’t get lost, driving through three different countries within an hour and a half was interesting, then the long flight back to rainy London.

So to sum up Croatia? Well, I’m hoping my recent blog entries will give you a flavor of what it was like, but I guess, lots of history, relatively unspoiled by mass tourism (but I did go our of season), lovely weather for this time, great scenery, loads to see and finally wonderful people.

Best memories? The restaurant in Motovun, my in-laws house and talking to the neighbor Jordan about how to make prosciutto, which he has done for over 30 years and kindly passed on the recipe.

Can’t wait to go again…

Happy Anniversary

Had dinner in one of the best restaurants that I have ever been to and I've been to a lot. Its in Motovun and the place is called Barbacon. The town (region) is famous for its truffles, so for starters we tried truffles with local prescute, chesse and wine. For main Leeann had grilled bass with a olive and mushroom sauce and I had stuffed loin of pork on a bed of chanterelles, maybe the occasion and setting had something to do with it, but the meal was fantastic. Well worth going there if you're in north Croatia.

Porec and Pula

Visited Porec and Pula in the last few days, it's very laid back here. No ones in a rush to do anything.

When I get back to England I’m definitely going to start on the garden and grow a proper vegetable patch and start making more cured meats, haven’t done much in the new house so far.

The Amphitheatre was pretty amazing. Finished of the evening with fish on the BBQ and some nice local wine, the kids helped themselves to grapes from the vineyard. Going to go on a boat trip this morning, the ones with a glass bottom should be fun.

What a Back Garden

The neighbours keep their own pigs and makes their own hams, there not even slaughtered yet and they are aready all sold. They have a massive back garden and grows his own vegetables as well as a mini vineyard. The wine is incredible.

Drove down to Porec today, everyone except me went swimming in the sea (I can't swim) I'll add some photos later. Bloging via dialup is a nightmare!
